You know it’s summer when the PEDICABS return to PROVIDENCE!
Sol Chariots is celebrating with a party THIS SATURDAY MAY 30th!
Pedicabs are a great way to get around downtown that has a low impact on the environment, traffic, and parking. Look for more information about how to use Sol Chariots to get to and from DPPC events in Greater Kennedy Plaza–coming soon!
Sol Chariots’ fleet of bright yellow tricycles will be hitting the streets of Downtown Providence on Saturday giving out free rides, bringing music to the streets, and picking up a giant puppet or two along the way.
Beginning At 4:00 pm the fleet and its followers will gather at the corner of Westminster and Union streets to gather for an informal musical parade about town. There will be live music, dancing, a prize give-away, and face-painting before the mini-procession weaves throughdowntown. Bikes, trikes, strollers and walkers welcome. Costumes, instruments, and silliness are highly encouraged!
At 5:00 pm the adults in the crowd are invited to join the whole Sol Chariots team for a party at the Alley Cat, where they will raffle off t-shirts, tours, and more. One lucky fan will even take home a sample farm share from Freedom Food Farm, Sol Chariots’ partner in delivering locally grown produce to Providence families through its Harvest Cycle program. Sol Chariots Pedicab Cooperative was founded in 2012 by twin sisters Ash and Ally Trull and has received national and international media attention as a sustainable social enterprise. The worker-owned bike business has since grown to five worker-owners and boasts a wide menu of pedal-powered services including scenic tours, weddings and local food delivery.
