In addition to the summer programming that we put on in Burnside Park, we often partner up with other organizations in our neighborhood on exciting projects. If you’re looking for activities to plan your visit to Downtown Providence around, here are our top 3 favorite summer events that we’re looking forward to this year.
PVD Fest
Last year’s wildly successful inaugural event, PVDFest, is back June 2 – 5 for an amazing weekend of art and culture in the capital city. Events will be taking place all around the city, with the main hub of attractions happening in and around Kennedy Plaza. We’re excited to announce that the DDPC is working with artists and performers to plan programs right in Burnside Park, including Lion Dancers, a drum circle, giant puppet dinosaurs and more.

Waterfire
Few things are as uniquely Providence as Waterfire and the 2016 schedule was recently announced. Strolling along the river during Waterfire is a great way to explore some of the city’s green spaces, and you can cut through Burnside Park on your way to your dinner reservations.
Here at the DPPC, we’re excited to be working closely with the Providence Foundation and the team at Waterfire on the work needed to be done to dredge the river so that boats can continue to use it safely and Waterfire can continue to burn.
Movies on the Block
Every Thursday from June through September, our friends at Indowncity set up an outdoor movie theater in Grants Block and screen movies under the stars. During July and August this is the perfect event to head to when you’re done watching live music at our Burnside Park Beer Garden.
