We are proud to present Jen Corace and Alison Paul to read their stories IN PERSON to children! One of the perks of living in this great city is that we can maintain connections to the creators of some of our favorite works of art – and provide inspiration and insight to our youngest citizens.
Come on down to Burnside Park and welcome Storytime and Art in the Park pioneers Jen Corace and Alison Paul! Both incredibly talented illustrators, both RISD grads, and both engaged with their communities, we are incredibly excited to host these Storytime heavy weights.
Alison Paul is the author/illustrator of The Crow and Sunday Love, which have both been previously featured at Storytime. She is also an animator and a professor, specializing in the art of storytelling. Alison will be presenting a fold and gather version of her newest book, THE PLAN, illustrated by Caldecott Honor winner Barbara Lehman.
“As a father and daughter cope with a loss, they rediscover an important piece of family history and begin building a new life. Alison Paul and Barbara Lehman’s innovative picture book collaboration proves the only difference between reality and a dream . . . is a plan. “
Jen Corace, prolific and popular illustrator of such favorites as The Little Pea, will be reading Telephone, and I Hatched. She will also be reading two of her favorite children’s books! Check out Jen’s Illustrations for TINY SHOWCASE – another great organization putting art in front of people!
“tell Peter: Fly home for dinner.” A wacky game of telephone—on the telephone wire—ensues, as a goose in an aviator helmet, a comic book–reading duck, an open-mouthed pelican, and others pass along changed versions of the message
Art in the Park this week is VERY IMPORTANT! Ricky Katowicz and guest Rachel Blumberg will be presenting THE IMPORTANT BOOK by Margaret Wise Brown. Rachel is a musician and stop-motion maker and illustrator and teacher and she is excited about making, especially with the hands. But the important thing about Rachel is that she is a star of stage and of page. Check out her work here.
